Founder & author
Conor Dwyer
Founder of Hospli, Personal Licence holder and hospitality operator with more than 30 years of hands-on industry experience.
Hospitality from the ground up
Conor started working in his aunt's pub, The Red House in Leamington Spa, at the age of 14. He later moved to Nuneaton and helped his parents run the Lamb and Flag.
His career then moved into nightclub, bar and venue security, eventually including his own operation supplying door teams across an area stretching from Swansea to Manchester.
Operating experience
Conor's experience has covered very different types of hospitality business rather than one single operating model. Selected venues and projects have included:
- The King William in Newport
- Bars operated in Spain
- A live music bar in Leamington Spa
- The Blue Lagoon nightclub in Northampton
- The Boot Inn & Kitchen in Sutton Coldfield
- The Shire Oak in Walsall Wood
- Current support for his wife in running the Black Horse Inn, Rugby
Practical perspective
Why that experience matters to Hospli
Hospitality rules have to work inside real venues. Busy services, changing staff teams, live entertainment, contractors, function rooms, late-night trading and unfamiliar customers all affect how procedures work in practice.
Hospli's aim is to translate official Martyn's Law requirements and guidance into a workflow that makes sense to people actually operating hospitality businesses.
Licensing and hospitality education
Conor holds a Personal Licence and has also created an online course for aspiring bar managers, drawing on his operational experience to help people understand the practical side of running licensed venues.
Author role at Hospli
Conor contributes the hospitality operating perspective to Hospli guidance. Legal and regulatory claims are checked against the official sources described in Hospli's sources and methodology policy.
